PUBLISHED VOLUMES

The BETWIXT international series welcomes non-fiction works that adopt analytical tools of linguistics, communication and translation: from the critical analysis of discourse and genre - also through the study of representation in a multimodal context - to the study of (non-literary) translation practices ) of written and audiovisual texts, to the vast field of sociolinguistics. The Series reserves ample space for original contributions focused on the study of discourse which place the relationship between power and social actors at the center of the research. The topics of interest in the series range, not exclusively, from public and institutional discourse to the linguistic, discursive and semiotic practices of media representations. Therefore, BETWIXT aims to offer linguistic and cultural in-depth tools aimed both at specialists in the sector and at students of linguistics and foreign languages.

Director
Giuseppe Balirano, PhD in English Linguistics, is  Professor in English Language and Translation Studies at the University of Naples L’Orientale. He is the Director of the Research Consortium, I-LanD, which investigates identity, language and diversity in discourse. His current research and publications focus mainly on language, identity, and multimodality, varieties of English and humour, masculinity studies and organised crime. His most recent publications include: Gardaí & Bedfellas.
