Oltre il limite. Letteratura e disabilità

The question around disability and impairment passes through the individual subconscious and the collective imagination, the fears and repressions in many social classes, and has historically often led different societies to push away disabled people, or, less often, to include them in the social forum, giving them a role and a “sense”. Literature, in poetry and prose, has been telling about disability, using works about disability, in which disabled characters are described, and using works born from and in disability, written by those who experienced it directly or indirectly.
More and more often, indeed, the writes are people with disability or their relatives. The volumes shows a path through centuries, starting from the XVII Century, in the “literature of disability”. The project is born from the collaboration of various universities: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, University of Rome Tor Vergata, University of Naples Federico II and University of l’Aquila.
