International Peer-Reviewed Journal
ANVUR - CLASSE A
It was founded in 1973 by Pompeo Giannantonio, who did not want to disperse the cultural energies that from 1962 to 1971 had gathered around the magazine "Filologia e Letteratura" which ceased publication in the same year in which Salvatore Battaglia died. The new direction is entrusted to Prof. Raffaele Giglio, already professor of Italian literature at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Naples.
The magazine is divided into sections, in addition to the one reserved for reviews: Essays, Meridionali, Contributions and Bibliographic Reviews; the second section is undoubtedly the most innovative in the field of periodic production intended for literary criticism: in fact, it welcomes studies focused on problems and figures of culture. In this way, the magazine also intended to take on a specific meridional commitment that never failed.
Critical interest is not only restricted to the two sections Essays and Contributions that host critical interventions on every aspect and theme of national and world literary production, but also extends to the section reserved for the "Rassegne bibliografiche", which examine the published studies on well-defined authors or literary periods.
Always present with punctuality to the critical literary debate, the magazine has welcomed the different voices of the ideological currents of contemporary culture expressed with the multiple methodologies, respecting and proposing to the readers the opinions and positions of those participating in the cultural process of our country.
